Can axed in Klopp 4-3-3: Liverpool best possible XI to face Southampton

Emre Can should be dropped from the Liverpool starting line-up to face Southampton on Wednesday.
The Reds host the Saints in the second leg of their EFL Cup semi-final and should make two changes to their starting XI from the team that lost 3-2 to Swansea.
Can and Ragnar Klavan should be dropped from the side, with Daniel Sturridge and Joel Matip coming in to replace them.
Liverpool midfielder Can has come under criticism recently for his performances and the trio of Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum and Adam Lallana are the best combination in the middle of the park.

Jurgen Klopp should field his strongest available XI in the cup with his side currently 1-0 down front the first leg.
Simon Mignolet should continue in goal as he has emerged as the club’s number one ahead of Loris Karius.
Matip would be the only change in the defence and he should partner Dejan Lovren at centre-back, with Klavan the unfortunate player to miss out.
Nathaniel Clyne and James Milner should continue in the full-back positions, but youngster Trent Alexander-Arnold could consider himself unfortunate if he does miss out against Southampton.
Liverpool were most effective this season when they operated with the midfield trio of Henderson, WIjnaldum and Lallana.
Klopp should return to that combination at the expensive of Can, who can be too slow in possession.
Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino must continue in attack to provide the creative flair, but they are still without Sadio Mane due to his participation in the Africa Cup of Nations.
Daniel Sturridge should just get the nod over Divock Origi to spearhead the attack, but in truth both are currently in desperate need of some goals.
