The ten men leading the race to be named NBA MVP
The Russell Westbrook-James Harden triple-double showdown has given
us reasons to watch teams other than the Cavs and Warriors this year,
and for that, we should be thankful.
But will it really be this one-two (triple-double) punch for the rest of the year? Can anyone else get in on the action?
We’re roughly halfway through the season and while several players loom, no one has made the leap ... yet.
Here’s where the MVP race stands after 11 weeks of play:
The Clips have not maintained their incendiary pace to start the season, but they’re still in position to have home court in the first round of the playoffs at 29-14. It’s been a roller coaster ride — the Clippers bounced back from a six-game losing streak with a six-game winning streak, with Paul averaging his requisite 17 points and upping his assist total to 12 in the month of January. If his injury, sustained Monday, doesn’t keep him out of the line-up too long, it’ll be fascinating to see how Blake Griffin is re-assimilated into the line-up with Paul — much like last year, the Clippers might be best-served to let CP3 run the show without interruption.
