FOR those that have patiently waited
the seven years for the Avatar franchise to make a comeback, director
James Cameron has made an exciting announcement.
Rewarding fans for their wait, Cameron announced he’s finally finished the scripts for not one but four more sequels.Speaking to The Daily Beast, the writer/director revealed he’s “just finished the script for Avatar 5” which means the second instalment can finally start production.
Fans have been taunted for years about release dates and whether or not the films are actually coming back but Cameron assured everyone “everything is designed, and so we’re going full-guns right now.”
There’s a lot of pressure on the director to replicate the magic of the first film which, he tells The Daily Beast is something he wouldn’t wish on anyone.
“I feel like I’ve been let out of jail, because I’ve been in the writing cave for the last two years. I’m actually enjoying life. I don’t enjoy writing. I wouldn’t wish writing on a dog,” he said.
The original Avatar, which was released back in December, 2009, starred Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana and Sigourney Weaver.
The movie, which at the time was praised for being a technological vision, grossed US $2.7 billion, was the first film to earn more than $2 billion at the box office and is one of the highest grossing film of all time.
Avatar 2 is scheduled for release in December, 2018 with the sequels set to follow in 2020, 2022 and 2023 respectively.
