Florida student marks ex-girlfriend's apology letter before sending it back
A university student marked an apology letter from his ex-girlfriend, giving her a D-minus for her efforts before sending it back.
Nick Lutz, a student at Florida’s Stetson University, scrawled in red pen all over her three and a half page letter - in which she apologises for her part in their break-up - pointing out grammatical, spelling and factual errors.
Describing her writing as “repetitive” and “aggravating” he gave his ex-girlfriend 61 out of 100 and a D minus for her work.
He said she needed to “show reasoning” when she said she ended up failing to keep the relationship alive, and needed to provide details when she said “I took all the promises we had and broke them.”
He added she needed to back up her assertions with “proof”, including her claim that she never cheated on him.
In a written comment at the end of the letter Mr Lutz said: “Long intro, short conclusion, strong hypothesis but nothing to back it up. Details are important.
“If you want to be believed back it up with proof. You claimed the cheating never occurred but place blame on yourself, then what for?
“Need to stop contradicting your own story and pick a side. While this gesture is appreciated, I would prefer details over statements.
“Revision for half credit will be accepted. Good Luck Nick Lutz.”
Mr Lutz then posted pictures of the marked letter on Twitter writing: “When your ex writes you an apology letter so you grade it to send it back.”
His tweet quickly went viral gaining over 300,000 likes and 100,000 retweets.
Other Twitter users found further spelling and grammatical errors in the text with some suggesting he should have failed her.
One woman pointed out the ex-girlfriend had missed “quite a few apostrophes” while another user noticed she wrote “a lot” as one word.
